The new Batman Begins HD-DVD, commentaries.

Why was there practically no promotion for this?

It apparently came out Oct. 10 and I heard nothing about it until I wandered over to the boards at SHH. Even the official Batman Begins site doesn't mention it.

A detailed review at DVDtown.com

If there was one thing I missed on the 2-disc DVD, it was a commentary track. I love commentary tracks. Now this new HD-DVD has a "In-Movie Experience," which sounds like it's a commentary track but with inset video. Something like that. If so, I may seriously consider getting it, even though it sounds like the rest of the features are the same as the 2-disc. Still, that's about 2 hours of new material. And I'd love to hear Nolan's thoughts.

Speaking of commentary tracks, I can't get enough of 'em. I sometimes wind up watching them more often than the movie itself.

My current top desert-island CT's:

1. Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Robert Rodriguez takes us on a whirlwind tour of low-budget, high-production values filmmaking.

2. Equilibrium. See above, but with Kurt Wimmer and Lucas Foster.

3. LOTR, all three SE's. Not only do we get three directing/effects/writing tracks each, we also get the actors ripping on each other. And no, I've never finished listening to all...let's see...12 tracks. That's something like 44 hours total.

Honorable Mention: Van Helsing. The actor track is hilarious, with David Wenham getting (lovingly) slammed in absentia.

Recommendations, anyone?
