This is my new dictionary definition of wrenching: "The Beauty of the Dark," a Gattaca slash fic by Candle Beck. I've only just seen the movie; I didn't feel I came away from it with a particularly good grasp of the characters, but holy crow this fic makes up for that and more. Absolutely beautiful and devastating stuff.

Why is this fandom not bigger?

Heh. I actually had this movie low on my priorities list because Ethan and Uma were so much in the press that I assumed Jude's part was very small. I didn't expect at all what I got. And certainly not the slashiness.

I raced through the whole slash section at ff.net; there's some good stuff there, but this fic was far and away my favorite.
