Saw the following at newsiesfreak.com (which, honestly, is a nicely-put-together site):
Newsies was originally supposed to be a drama called Hard Promises, in which Jack Kelly had a younger brother who was killed by getting stuck in a wagon wheel.
Am I a horrible person for reading this and laughing so hard I've practically got tears running down my face? I know it's meant to be tragic and all, and I've read the original script treatment and it's sad, etc., etc. But every time I look at this description, all I can picture is this kid wandering into some sort of...human roach motel, and becoming hopelessly stuck. "Heeellppp meee!"
And then I laugh 'til I cry.
OTOH, I have to say that, though the Disney Channel has not managed to entice me into watching High School Musical despite their zillions of promos about it, I am quite pleased for Kenny Ortega that even weeks after it first aired the movie's soundtrack is #1 at Amazon, and I've heard it's been the #1 download on iTunes as well. Go Kenny!
