The posting of Chapter XXX of "The Dusk Descending" marks the first time in over a year that I've managed to update this story twice in under a month. Yes, I was only working off an existing draft (I know where the next dozen chapters are going, nothing beyond that), but still.

My readers have the patience of saints.

Last week I was at the movie rental store and thought to myself, "By golly, it's high time I watched that dragon movie that inspired ldhenson's story I love so much," and I set about scanning the shelves for it. I checked the Sci-Fi section to no avail and came up empty-handed in Action, too. Baffled, I returned to Sci-Fi and stared helplessly at the space between the movies beginning with "D" where "The Dusk Descending" rightfully should have been.

And that's when it hit me.

The story's title is "The Dusk Descending." Not the movie. Right. Okay.

But even once I had that straight, I still couldn't remember the title Reign of Fire to save my life and ended up asking the clerk about "that dragon movie with Christian Bale." (He had to look it up.)

Hopefully this anecdotal evidence lets you know just how significant a place your story holds in my memory. I am a happily patient reader -- each update is well worth the wait.

Ah, now, you've totally made my day.

RoF is one of those movies with a fantastic premise/cast/crew/SFX but whose execution, I think, doesn't quite manage to pull everything together. But I won't give anything away if you haven't seen it yet.

Thanks for sticking with TDD, and I'm glad you're enjoying it.
