Literal Writer's Block: Sherlock BBC edition

Just what it says on the tin.

Thumbnail:

Did this on a 1" solid wood block.

Been a while since I did one of these. This time around, I had fun experimenting with something other than decoupage (my usual method). It also meant that without paper edges I could sand the finished block all the way to 2000 grit, so it feels wonderfully smooth.

Credit where it's due: For the little icons I started with clip art from public domain sources, then modified them. Except the last one, which is mine.

And finally...

Brilliant!
You really have a way with paper!
I want one of you to come teach me to do that wonderful paper cutting you've been doing lately. I'll feed you and take good care of you. :)

Thank you! Well for this one I did a transfer onto the block so there's no paper on this :-)

As for the cuttings, you're so sweet. I've only been doing these kinds of cuttings for a few weeks though...I'm just making it up as I go! But that's the fun part.

Ya know, I realized that after I'd posted the comment, but then I thought--"meh, you've been doing so much other awesome paper stuff, I'll let it stand."

I'm totally jealous in the nicest way possible of your paper cutting abilities! If I had been doing it for a few weeks, MAYBE I could do something resembling a human outline. LOL
