To vid or not to vid?

Oh great--I'm suddenly taken by an urge to do a songvid for Gattaca.

I've only ever done songvids the old-fashioned way, on a VCR. That was years ago. That was also a right pain, which is why it was years ago, and I've sworn off doing vids since, despite the occasional impulse to do so ("Oh wow, I just found the perfect song!")

But maybe I can actually do it digitally now.

Hmm. We'll see.

Steep learning curve first.

I know that permetaform has a REALLY LONG NEWBIE TUTORIAL for getting started vidding. I don't do them, I have no urge but DAMN, I'll encourage you in every way possible to make a Gattaca vid.

I love that skit, too. I doubt it was nearly as funny on paper but Jude took it to another level.

Yeah, I've been looking at permetaform's vid posts. I thought they were interesting when she first posted them but I figured I'd never need them. Ah well. Thanks for the support--don't know if I'll manage it but at least I want to learn.

vidding as artistry

Have I mentioned I love artists? ;-) Vidding is something I adore to watch and haven't quite the talent/time for myself. I'd love to see what you come up with -- especially if you do Sky Capt after Gattaca! ^__________^

I've got some friends who do vidding and fully recommend them for any questions (they're wonderful on advice and help) laurashapiro and morgandawn with tv media vidding expertise, and starherd, kasra_c, and vampireanneke for anime vidding (many awards won by them at cons).

Thanks for the encouragement and recommendations! Unfortunately, after I spent about 8-10 hours on it I realized I don't have the free time to do this right now :-( But I'm keeping all my notes, so in the future, who knows...?
