Latest sewing project.

Photo of me...well, sorta. No headshots, because my slash writing has always been in the closet.

But I finished my latest sewing project; will likely wear this to a con. (Yeah, it's a little LOTR-influenced.) Honestly, I'm an amateur sewer. I don't know how to use a machine, I don't use patterns because I don't know how to follow them, etc. But it's always a fun learning process.

I may put grommets/lacing down the sides, but only if I can find lacing to match the color, and that violet's tough to match. My other sewing project is my trenchcoat, which I'm still trying to get into shape. I'm hoping to get that squared away before the weekend.

Oh, lovely. Could double as a period costume or an artist's smock-thing.

Thanks! The violet material is this slippery stuff that turned out to be a real pain to work with, but I'm happy with the way it ended up.

Oooooh!!
PRETTY!
You could do lacing in a contrasting color instead of trying to match the violet...
But it looks wonderful and gorgeous as is!

Aw, thanks! The violet is a shimmery, unusual shade that it's hard to find a complementary color for, but I'm still mulling it over. Ideally I'd do the lacing in black, but the sides of the dress (you can't see it in the photo) are black, and black lacing would be nearly invisible. Glad you like it though!

Thanks...I love playing with drapey sleeves. If it weren't for issues of weight I would've been tempted to make them even fuller...
