Eeeeeeeee! What an awesome technic! I *love* the grey-scale/faded versus colorized/sharp areas. Very very awesome, and I must try and duplicate on something soon, because it's just very cool. ^___^
My favorites are 2 (yay!), 3, 4, and 6 (though 5 is terribly amusing ;D)
Thank you! These were a lot of fun to make. I've done a similar style mostly for POTC icons, but I didn't have as much practice then making icons. I'm happiest with these.
I'm not sure which ones I'm taking but I'll be sure to credit if I use any. I just wanted to tell you that I think these icons are absolutely beautiful. Wonderfully done.
ps. I was also wondering how exactly did you do the color effect? I know nothing about graphic editing and I'm sure that I'll never actually try it myself, I was just curious.
The general idea is to separate the pic into pieces, and manipulate each piece to get the total effect. #3 with Sam, for instance, turned out to be quite complex because of the way the light scatters. I wound up with six layers for the final version.

I'm an archer and at the end of a club shoot one guy always says 'last ones, make them count!' so this was very amusing to me!

I did an archery class in school for a quarter...Lots of fun, wish I'd kept it up.
