Yes, this is the No. 9 Duane Street Register, because I haven't yet found a guestbook script I like.

I just wanna say that I am a MAJOR newsboy fan and I have studied them for a long time and most of your information is not accurate. I don't want to be a jerk, but its true. Most of the "Historical Newsboy Names" are only from the movie "Newsies" and not authentic newsies.

I'm not quite sure what to make of your comment since the anonymous sweeping generalizations seem a little over the top, but if you'd like to discuss it I'm willing to do so. I have sources for each of those names; which ones do you have questions about?

Newsboys Book

Thank-you Mr. Henson for listing my book, "Extra! Extra! The Orphan Trains and Newsboys of New York" found exclusively at www.theorphantrain.com Like you, I have done in-depth research about the newsboys. Moreover, individuals can realize the connection of the newsboys to the children of the trains. I believe I am the first author to expose this reality. My book has been recognized as embracing hauntingly good photographs of the newsboys and bootblacks with excellent prose.
Your website is fantastic!

My Best,
Renee Wendinger

You can use the image of the newsboy sculpture if you like

I would be very honored if you would like to use a photograph of my newsboy sculpture on your website. Please just list my name along with it. Just download them from my site and upload them to your site http://www.creativesculpture.com/newsboy_gallery.html

Here are some links and if you would like to read the journal that I made about the creation of the newsboy and my own research you can find it at http://www.creativesculpture.com/texaspress.html Oh, and I made the journal into some videos.

Newsboy journal video part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTDv3k-a3ec
Newsboy journal video part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OGcSnlSaaI&feature=related

Of course I could not put all of my research into the videos that is found at the site.

Language of the News Boys

(Anonymous) 2012-05-31 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi, I'm glad to find your site.

I am working on a film set in NYC in 1864.
We have a lot of street scenes and I want to fill up
the air with the sound of the news boys.

I have lots of access to the headlines of the day and
I'm hoping you can give me some ideas on how the boys
elaborated on the headlines as they called them out.

How did they pitch them? What was the language?
What did they say to make the headlines for interesting?

Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you.
