Aw, no. I only found out today because CNN.com put it on their front page, but apparently jms' breaking of the news came several days ago.

I enjoyed his work through five seasons of B5; he infused Franklin with a genuinely warm and vital presence which will be greatly missed.

I had the pleasure of seeing him at a con in 1996--B5's third season--and of speaking to him briefly at the meet-'n'-greet, which at that point had already stretched on for what must have been a couple of hours. After he signed my notebook, he gave me a sly grin and started flipping through its pages, pretending to be looking for incriminating secrets. Not that there was much to see; I had some work notes in it or something...but he took the time even near the end of that exhaustingly long signing session to make a fan laugh, and I'll always remember that.

My thoughts are with his loved ones.

Godspeed, Richard.
