It's a long wait for Series 2, so in the meantime I made myself a

Some folks wanted to try folding their own Sherlock Holmes Inna Box, so I cleaned up the images and made a version that people can print out and put together.

You ever had a sudden, inexplicable urge to do a project, and just had to get it out of your system?

In my case this week, it was matchboxes.

ETA: New photos with much truer colors. We had rain when I snapped the first set and the lighting was terrible.

It'll come as no surprise to some of you that I love decoupaged shadow boxes, so I just had to try my hand at making a wearable one.

So I told myself I wasn't going to get involved in Sherlock Holmes fandom, even after seeing the new movie and enjoying it immensely.

But then I noticed my desk needs a new stationery box.

It's been a while since I made a playable shadow box. I first had the idea for this one over a year ago, but what with one distraction and another, it took me ages to pull it all together. Now it's finished!

It was inspired by Master and Commander.

In recent years I've developed an interest in New York City at the turn of the century. And so I started work on this box, which took me over a year to complete. I sealed and painted the box, then added images one, two, or a handful at a time, and then after they were all in, sealed them and the box again.





It's titled New York 1900: Memories I Never Had. ( I like to think of it as a scrapbook, in box form, of things I've never experienced... )
