Depp + Rodriguez = "Sin City"?

It's not as sordid as it sounds :-)

But I'm really quite excited at the announcement on Yahoo! Movies that Johnny Depp is in the cast and Robert Rodriguez is helming Sin City. Now I've never read much in the graphic novel genre, though I have friends who do and I've absorbed a little by osmosis--enough, anyway, to know that I admire the artwork more often than not; and enough to, say, realize within the first few minutes of watching The Matrix that it was shot with graphic-novel sensibilities. That sort of thing.

(I didn't guess while watching it that From Hell is also a graphic novel. Had to find out after. But I did know I was wowed by the visual style...er, well, when I wasn't shielding my eyes from the gore, that is.)

So I'm not at all familiar with Sin City. But I'll be keeping an eye on this project.

Also in the cast, and I'm not naming everybody: Steve Buscemi, Mickey Rourke, and Elijah Wood.
