Well, maybe this isn't such a good idea, since the last time I went on and on about upcoming movies I wound up going to see a mere two of them (Phantom of the Opera and National Treasure). But here's three that pinged my radar:

Kung Fu Hustle:

I wanted to see this in Hong Kong, but as it was opening weekend, everything was sold out. I just hope the US version doesn't chop all hell out of it, the fate which befell Shaolin Soccer.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy:

I don't know whether to anticipate or dread this one. Now I sort of know how the LOTR book-fans must have felt (in general I've been lucky enough to see adapations of things before seeing the originals, which suits me just fine)...I've loved the Hitchhiker's books for years. (The first three, at least...I'm a bit lukewarm on the others, sorry Mr. Adams). At my high school, you weren't with it unless you'd read at least the first HHGTTG and could sing the opening lines of "The Lumberjack Song." A fact which delighted me, as I already owned the first two books and the Radio Scripts (and knew most of the song to boot). Eventually I saw the series and listened to the radio show, but the books and the Scripts (ironically, just the scripts, not the radio show) remain my first love.

I've glimpsed the trailer, though not watched it closely as I'm a bit spoiler-phobic. It looks pretty good...it's just I've got my own versions of the characters quite deeply entrenched in my brain. So...well...I'll just have to see. I haven't been paying the slightest bit of attention to how this movie was made (who made it and whether they know what they're doing, etc.) so it's something of a cipher to me at the moment.

Kingdom of Heaven:

Haven't been paying much attention to this one, either. It was rather low on my list despite the fact that it's a period epic bettle movie and despite the presence of Orlando Bloom, who I still have much goodwill for after the LOTR movies and POTC. But now I see on the latest TV ads that it also has Liam Neeson and Jeremy Irons, two actors who have previously been on my "rent everything of theirs I can get my hands on" list. So I may have to revise my opinion...
