ldhenson: (white knight)
All three of my in-progress fics (not counting the one I started and then abandoned a couple of weeks ago) are currently dead in the water. Have been, for quite a while, actually. I did fix a few plotholes and embarrassing grammatical errors in assorted (unposted) chapters of TDD, but that's about it.

Going to MW may get things kick-started once more...then again, it might not: MW has about a fifty-fifty chance of pushing the Big Red Reset Button as far as my primary fandoms are concerned. My very first MW spelled the demise of my involvement in QL fandom; last year's MW saw my Mag7 enthusiasm sputter out just a few weeks after. And that's only two examples. I can't tell you why this is, either. It's not like anything negative happens to my fandoms while I'm there. Do I just have a short attention span? Do I get distracted by all the other bright shiny fandoms at the con?

Still, I've stuck it out with Newsies for almost a year now, longer than anything else since...2002 at least, I'm thinking. W00t! Gonna keep my fingers crossed...

I'm not an Oprah fan by any means, but her episode today, in which she visits the Auschwitz concentration camp with author and Nobel Prize-winner Elie Wiesel, was definitely something to see. I only caught the last half, but she kept her comments to a minimum and let him do most of the talking, describing his memories of the camp and explaining the horrifying origins of what can still be seen there. Having him walk her/us through the site is beyond words.

Oprah gets rerun on my local ABC syndicate, so probably in your area, too. It's well worth checking out.
