Connnnn!!!
Jun. 1st, 2006 02:50 pmLadies, it's been a blast.
It's already been several days since MW ended, but I picked up a souvenir cold at the con and haven't been up to posting until now. Who says the best things in life aren't free? :-)
Okay, so the traffic was awful getting there and the Denny's is no more and I had no budget for zines, but the con itself was great as always and getting to hang out with everybody is, of course, the best part of all. ::waves to
silver_cyanne,
partners4life,
bklyn_girl, and my three roomies who aren't on LJ but you know who you are!::
There's something to be said for going to a con at which your primary fandoms are under-represented (same thing happened to me a couple years ago, when my fandom was OUATIM). Nothing to buy, but then again, no pressure to buy, which was a blessing in disguise as I didn't really have a budget. Strangely, Batman Begins had zero presence, which I didn't expect at all as comics usually have their own little niche at MW...expecially with X-Men III coming out during it. I only saw one Bruce/Ducard fic in a mm zine, and the fan who bought my Bruce Wayne tin said it was the only BB thing she could find.
Speaking of tins, I was very happy with how they turned out. I brought 27 and sold all but 7, which was almost exactly what happened last year (only then, I brought 28). Oddly enough, the House tin was the first to go, both years.
I made an effort to jump-start TDD again while at the con, and special thanks to my roomies for talking through my plot with me--and putting up with my incessant scribblings-out and squinting at furnishings while I tried to choreograph action scenes--even though they aren't Newsies fans. And no, I'm not going to have Merry and Pippin make a cameo appearance, nor am I going to maim my boys in quite the creative ways you came up with, nor are the dragons going to spontaneously invent jet-propulsion technology. But I do appreciate the suggestions. Hee.
More detailed con report later, when I'm more lucid. (Did I mention my average bedtime at the con was something like 2:30 or 3 a.m.?)
