And the pet peeve of today is...People who watch trailers, behind-the-scenes specials, and/or read spoilers, and then complain, when they watch the actual show/movie, that there are no surprises.

Granted, trailers are notorious for doing this, but that's not the movie's fault, unless it's one of those movies that truly has nothing good beyond the half-dozen jokes that are deemed "trailer material." Still, given that many trailers don't seem to care whether they give away crucial plot points or not as long as they get a good-looking trailer, half the blame rests on the marketing people.

But BTS specials...and spoilers? Read/watch them all you like, but you've completely forfeited your right to complain about the show/movie being a little lackluster after that.

Personally, I'm spoiler-phobic for shows/movies/books I like, which is why for the past two years I all but closed my eyes and hummed loudly whenever it looked like a trailer for any of the LOTR movies was going to come on, and I stay the heck away from the spoiler threads at TWOP. If a writer's gone to the trouble of crafting some suspense and twists into his plot, then the least I can do is let him tell me the story the way he intended. And if I don't, that's my bad, not his.

Gave me a laugh today: Banderas on the Mexico and Mariachis DVD, breaking out in "Cancion del Mariachi" as though he were a non-native speaker...failing to roll his r's, flattening his vowels and all...I've seen it before and it's still hilarious.

And a wee bit disturbing.
