Now I remember why I don't post WIPs.

ldhensonBecause my current--my only--two are stuck. And I've got ideas for yet another fic (which I steadfastly refuse to post as a WIP; that is, if I ever get around to writing it at all), which will prove to be a distraction.
Because I haven't totally overestimated by writing ability, I've always kept one chapter in reserve for these two WIPs--that is, I'll post a new chapter only when I've got at least one future chapter complete, so that I can still make modifications if necessary. So far I've got seven chapters of "Subject to Change" (VH) and nine chapters of "Magnificent 7-11" (guess) written, with one chapter fewer posted for each. After that, I'm stuck.

Okay, I'm going to give Newsies credit where credit's due and say that much of the reason I was underwhelmed by the choreography turned out to be due to the hackjob pan-and-scan did on it. I sort of suspected this, and borrowing the WS version confirmed it. Have I mentioned how much I dislike FS? I own a FS version of ROTK (theatrical), long story why I have a FS version when I'm not a FS fan, and it's like watching the film with blinkers on and my nose pressed up against the screen. Action sequences can get downright confusing. Fortunately, I own the EE as well, so I can go watch that to clear up the eyestrain after...
Speaking of which, I found out I wasn't--at the time of the movie's release, I mean--really older than as much of the cast of Newsies as I had thought. I feel like slighty less of a cradle-robber now.

Am I an incredibly insensitive and uncultured person for giving up two-thirds of the way through All the Little Animals and watching the remainder on 2x speed bcause nothing really happens in this movie? I mean, I couldn't get enough of Daniel Benzali, but I just couldn't take the pacing anymore. (It still doesn't beat Heaven, though. I watched the ending of that movie at 4x speed.) I have nothing against slow-paced movies--The Shawshank Redemption, for instance, is one of my all-time favorites--but if I can't see a reason for the slow pacing, it's very hard to stick with it. It didn't help that I didn't find any of the characters sympathetic, even the ostensible protagonists. Or was I really meant to? Am I missing something?
