I recently lost my favorite customized mint tin, a vintage-NYC design. For various reasons (mostly because I was testing out new techniques) I wound up re-making that tin at least three times over the last couple of years. Hence my reluctance to do it yet another time, at least until I'm 100% sure it's lost for good.
In the meantime, I still need something to carry around my delicious mints in. Red Dwarf to the rescue, then!

The back.

I know, I know, here I am cavalierly toting around candy rather than proper brushes inside this deceptively-labeled tin. No doubt I will rue the day that the desperate cry goes up: "Is there a walrus-brush in the house?" and I will sheepishly have only sugary goodness to offer.
But until that day comes, I will take my chances.

Another excuse to try out my new homemade lightbox A nice side view of both labels.
ETA: Some people have expressed interest in getting one...These are 2.25" mini mint tins, unused, and at the moment I have run out (I originally just made this one for myself, or I would've stocked up beforehand). If enough folks want them, I'll be ordering more. The labels are glossy and water-resistant (though like most labels, not waterproof). They're only $4 each + s/h.

Date: 2008-11-21 11:23 pm (UTC)Hey, thanks! I wanted to learn some things in Photoshop and what better motivator than to make a label depicting seabound mammals?
The laser printer darkened it a bit, but since it wasn't my printer I didn't get to play around with it. Still, not too shabby I think!

Date: 2008-11-22 02:36 am (UTC)Glad you like how the photos are turning out with the lightbox. I did a simplified version that only has light coming in through the top, but I'm going to go ahead and cut out the sides as well. I think your opals would look lovely in one.

Date: 2008-11-22 09:52 pm (UTC)My lightbox is based on this one (http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-studio.html). It looked interesting so I thought I'd give it a try. I only cut out the top, but now I want more light so I'll be cutting out the sides as well.
