Apr. 29th, 2005 01:27 pmFF.net is now cracking down on fics containing song lyrics. Remove 'em or lose your account seems to be their new policy.
Their note doesn't seem to make a distinction between songfics (fics whose plot is largely told via a song's lyrics) and fics that quote lyrics for the purpose of creating an atmosphere. Because I hate to have to point this out, but the latter's been a staple of fanfic for decades.
Shoot. Does "To Sleep" look like enough of a songfic to warrant removal? Should I pull it?
What if you quote from a book? A speech? A play? A movie?
