Oh very nice! Your icons are as lovely as your stories. I like the effect of the grayed out background with the prominence of the foreground item. And I really like your personal El icon. Nummy. And the other one you have that works like a puzzle box.

Well, nothing illegal! The program is on the student access computers along with others that the school provides for student use. So if you want any basic icons :-D let me know.

Just a question, how did you do the black and white background and the color foreground?

Hmm...a lot of hand editing and putting GIMP's color controls to good use. You need a steady hand for selecting. I also exaggerated the foreground/background focus.
