Haven't logged into LJ in about a week, so am very behind on flist and various comms.

Saw King Kong, not because I'm a Kong fan, but simply because Peter Jackson and team were at the controls. Very mixed feelings about it, still need some sorting out. The easily-categorized stuff (no spoilers):
1. Naomi Watts, whom up to now I've been indifferent to, is nothing short of luminous.
2. The movie could probably stand a bit of judicious trimming, especially of most, if not all, scenes involving slo-mo, which come off as heavy-handed rather than profound (I had a similar issue with Jackson's (over)use of slo-mo in ROTK).
3. The animation team/Andy Serkis accomplishes with Kong what I felt they never quite got with Gollum: making me honestly forget, in certain scenes, that Kong is a CGI creation.
4. The opening sequence is simply marvelous.
5. Supporting characters suffer a bit, with the odd problem of being simultaneously too-fleshed-out and not well-fleshed-out enough.
6. Oh, and Thomas Kretschmann as Captain Englehorn? Smokin'.

Managed to miss an entire two weeks of TV. So I don't know how either of the Apprentices ended, which means I'll have to stay away from TWOP until I somehow manage to find someone with tapes. Missed this week's rerun of Supernatural (again). Missed Hugh Laurie on Ellen. Grr.

Where has my time been spent, you ask? A big chunk of it went to trying out URU for the first time. And I absolutely fell in love with it.

I can only imagine the thrill of playing it online. Excuse me while I go sob somewhere.
