Date: 2006-03-18 06:47 pm (UTC)How did you do that? I make the occasional icon and have been trying to figure something like this out for a while. I know there are probably places I could go, but I haven't had the time to sift through everything. I'm probably overlooking something mind-numbingly simple that I'm going to kick myself repeatedly for later. I'm not asking for a full tutorial, I don't know what you use, but I'm familiar with PS7... but a quick overview in whatever you did [in any program] would be most appreciated ^__^ Sorry about all the questions and thank you for reading all this and for your troubles!

I use GIMP, but I think PS7 should be similar. The trick is to break the image up into pieces, and then you can manipulate each piece as you like. If you're brave you can do it all in one layer, but I use multiple ones. Where it gets difficult is you need a steady hand for selecting parts of the image, and there is a lot of trial and error in adjusting the light levels so that the final thing looks good.
There may be more than one way to do this, but this is the one I came up with.

Date: 2006-03-20 11:52 pm (UTC)I just wish the font was a little clearer.
Well, that was the look I was going for, but if you'd like any of these with a different font, I can do that.
